Esthetics

The Esthetics Program at Drake State combines classroom theory with hands-on practice in the laboratory promoting healthy skin. The program is designed to provide qualified individuals the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, aptitude, and skills to pursue a career in esthetics.

Upon completion of the Esthetics Program the students can obtain licenses by successfully passing the Alabama Board of Esthetics Exam. After one year of holding an Alabama Cosmetology license, students can enroll in Cosmetology Instructor Training Courses. Students enrolling in these courses must be proficiently skilled for entry-level employment in the field and capably train students to become professionals in the field including abiding by all rules and regulations governing safe services for themselves and their clients.

Esthetician earnings

A graduate of the Esthetics Program can become employed as an esthetician, make-up artist, platform artist, or spa owner depending on the program option selected. After gaining experience in a shop/salon environment, graduates can build enough clientele to one day open their own businesses. Other opportunities include teaching in a vocational educational setting or becoming a sales representative.

According to Lightcast Economic Modeling, the median salary for an esthetician is $29,492.
