The Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Grants, and Research provides research, information, and administration to support and strengthen Drake State’s planning and assessment, budgeting, institutional effectiveness, institutional research, grants, and decision-making processes. The office serves as a clearinghouse for campus-wide data.

The target for completions at Drake State for 2022 is 271 total awards. This is in line with the college’s strategic plan to increase completions by 2% over the previous year. To achieve this, the college will continue to focus on enhancing advising and improving auto graduation processes for short certificates and certificates. The minimum threshold for completions is 211, which is based on the average number of completions at Drake State for the previous five years. The aspirational threshold is 370, which is based on the average number of completions at the comparison colleges groups (including Drake State) for the last five years.

Overall retention (fall-to-fall) and persistence (fall-to-spring) rates are internally calculated by the College and based on the entire student body, minus graduates. The target retention rate for AY 2021-22 is 38% and the target persistence rate 67%. These targets are in line with the college’s strategic plan to increase retention and persistence rates by 2% annually. The minimum threshold for the retention rate is 35%, based on the average retention rate for the past three years and the aspirational threshold is 46%, based on a 10% increase in the previous year’s retention rate. The minimum threshold for the persistence rate is 64%, based on the average persistence rate for the college for the past three years and the aspirational threshold is 75%, based on a 10% increase in the previous year’s retention rate.
