The Salon and Spa Management – Cosmetology associate degree program at Drake State combines classroom theory with hands-on practice in the laboratory. The program is designed to provide qualified individuals the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, aptitude, and skills to pursue a career in cosmetology.

A graduate of the Salon and Spa Management program can become employed as a barber, cosmetologist, manicurist, color technician, make-up artist, esthetician, natural hair stylist, platform artist, or salon owner depending on the program option selected. After gaining experience in a shop/salon environment, graduates can build enough clientele to one day open their own business. Other opportunities include teaching in a vocational educational setting or advancing to a sales representative
