Drake State Joins NJCAA and ACCC
Drake State Community and Technical College has been accepted into the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC), marking the start of its athletic journey.
“This is a historic moment for Drake State as we join the NJCAA and ACCC,” said Dr. Patricia Sims, President of Drake State. “Athletics will enrich the student experience, foster school spirit, and strengthen our connections within the Huntsville community and beyond. Participating in the NJCAA and ACCC also allows us to provide more opportunities for students to excel both on and off the field. We are excited to support their growth as student-athletes and future leaders.”
The addition of athletics aligns with Drake State’s mission to promote student success through education, engagement, and wellness. The college is preparing to recruit an athletics director and talented student-athletes to represent Drake State competitively and academically at the local, regional, and national levels.
Drake State will compete against other colleges and universities within the ACCC and NJCAA frameworks, offering students new avenues for athletic scholarships, professional development, and personal growth.
