DRAKE STATE TRIO STUDENTS ENJOY CULTURAL TOUR

8/15/2016

On July 21, J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College TRiO students visited the Muscle Shoals area for a college/cultural tour.  After brief presentations from the Transfer, Housing, and Financial Aid departments of the University of North Alabama, a senior student led a 45-minute walking tour through the beautiful campus in Florence, including a viewing of their two live lion mascots!

Students also visited the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, where they explored the numerous exhibits, including instruments, performance attire, records, and more of Alabama music legends, such as The Temptations, Nat King Cole, and Martha Reeves.  There was even an opportunity to walk through the band Alabama’s old tour bus!

TRiO offers college/cultural tours at least once a semester as a means of exposing TRiO students to 4 year institutions and cultural learning experiences.  The program is staffed by Lisa Vick, Kim Darnell and Richard Collie.
